Catie Leasca is a dance artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. With roots in Massachusetts, she has traveled and danced abroad in Israel, France, Belgium, and Germany. As a youngster, Catie grew up dancing at Betty Gundersen Studio of Dance in West Brookfield, MA and traveled to Riesa, Germany on the United States Dance Team to compete as a semi-final soloist through the International Dance Organization. At 17, she spent a year at Joffrey Ballet School as a Jazz and Contemporary Trainee. Catie then went on to graduate with her B.F.A. in Dance from the University of the Arts in May, 2017. Under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield, Catie received the Dean’s Award for Excellence and the School of Dance Sustainability award. She studied intensely under Katie Swords and Jesse Zaritt, among many other incredible mentors.
Since graduating, Catie has received a space grant through Chez Bushwick/UArts creative exchange in 2017 and has presented her work as a Work Up 5.0 artist at Gibney Dance, an Upstart artist at Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Movement Research through Judson Church, FAILSPACE at the Woods, Center for Performance Research, Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, WIP IV at STUDIO4, The Craft at Threes Brewing, and Salt Dance Fest. She was an apprentice with Bryn Cohn + Artists and has worked professionally with Netta Yerushalmy, Jessie Young, ingercooper|dancers, Mary Grace McNally and Artists, Sophie Tibiletti, and She Mee Zoo.
Catie will begin as a Summer Space Grant Recipient at Brooklyn Arts Exchange in June, 2019 and a LiftOff Creative Resident with New Dance Alliance in September, 2019.
